Political Science Text

Congress provided a democratic legitimacy to these acts by immediately passing a general amnesty law. For many, it appeared that the moment of the Argentinazo, of the great national insurrection, had arrived. Others more cautiously took note of the removal of Galimberti ordered by Peron, after the Peronist Youth leader had threatened to form “popular militias.” These and other assessment- because virtually anything was possible that May 25th- all hinged on the designs, secret but undoubtedly brilliant, of Peron, regarded as the nation’s savior.

This phenomenon, utterly unique, of Peron’s being simultaneously many things for many people, was due to the heterogeneity of the Peronist movements and Peron’s decision and skill in not dispensing with any of its many parts. Furthermore, as Jose Luis Romero wrote, Peron’s symbolic figure, one and many at the same time, ended up replacing the real historical personality. For all, Peron expressed a general sentiment of a nationalist and popular kind, in reaction to the recent experience of denationalization and privilege. For some- die-hard Peronist trade union leaders and politicians-these sentiments were incarnated in the historic leader who, as in 1945, would bring back the old prosperity, distributed by a munificent welfare state. For others- the younger ones of every political stripe-Peron was the Third World revolutionary leader who would lead the country to liberation, national or social, animating his people’s potential

In contrast, others, heirs to the movement’s venerable anti-Communism, saw in Peron someone who would cut off the head of the hydra of social subversion with all the energy necessary, all the more dangerous and deserving of extermination for having usurped Peronism’s traditional banners. For many others- sectors of the middle or upper class, those who were perhaps the most recent discoverers of his virtues- Peron was the pacifier, the leader bereft of personal ambitions, the “herbivorous lion”, as he was called, who would put the interest of Argentina before those of Peronism and would be capable of harnessing society’s conflicts, attaining a rebuilding process, and setting the country on the path of the economic growth, in pursuit of Argentina’s status as a “great power”. The surprising phenomenon of 1973, the marvel of Peron’s charisma, was its capacity to reconcile so many unsatisfied longings, incompatible but all personified and legitimized in the old leader who was returning to the country. On March 1, 1973, the country voted massively against the military and authoritarian power and believed that neither one was ever coming back. It did not vote for any one of these options contained in the winning ticket, but for social, political and also military space in which were supposed to be settled.

1973: A Balance

For its protagonists, the roots of these violent conflicts were to be found in a volatile economy, with its succession o fits and starts, unfulfilled promises, and accumulated frustrations. Nevertheless, from a broader perspectives- undoubtedly an advantage of hindsight and enhanced by subsequent calamities still not imagined in 1973- the economy performed adequately, a performance that lasted until 1975, and did not justify the apocalyptic prognosis, though neither did it that of the “great power” Argentina.

What most notable was the growth of the agriculture sector in the pampa zone that beginning in the early 1960s and lasting until the early 1980s, reversed the long stagnation and the previous slump. In these prosperous years, the world found itself in conditions to turn at least a part of its needs for food into effective demand and new markets for Argentina grains and oils, particularly in the socialist countries- compensating for the failure of their own agriculture- which were either enjoying the benefits of high oil prices or beginning their industrial growth.

The pampa’s agriculture zone was substantially transformed, as were diverse modern economic islands in the traditional interior, such as the fruit-growing Rio Negro valley. The state promoted change in diverse ways- credit and subsidies for investments and the systematic actions of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) - although it did not change its traditional policy of transferring resources into the urban economy, which continued with just a few modifications in its methods. What proved decisive were the effects of the economy’s general modernization. The local manufacturing of tractors and combine-harvesters, and also of silos and others storage installations, completed the mechanization of agriculture tasks and the substantial changes in storage and transportation methods.

NUMB BY LINKIN PARK

NUMB BY LINKIN PARK

I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

Can't you see that you're smothering me
Holding too tightly afraid to lose control
Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
And every second I waste is more than I can take

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me with someone disappointed in you

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
Become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

[Chorus]
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be

'KEN LEE' BY VALENTINA HASSAN

COMMENTS FOR VALENTINA HASSAN’S 'KEN LEE'

It is quite surprise when Mr.Shahrul said he will show us a video of a participant from Bulgarian Idol which I never saw it before. At first, we planned to watch Mukhsin, a film by Yasmin Ahmad, a talented and famous producer in Malaysia. The video is all about Valentina Hassan who participates in a singing competition in Bulgaria.

At first, I thought she sang Mariah Carey song in her own language, later I noticed that she tried to imitate Mariah Carey’s style in singing. She tried to imitate Mariah Carey’s pronunciation. It sounds weird and of course viewers hard to understand what she tried to deliver. Even I myself cannot comprehend her singing but after some time I got to know that she sing Mariah Carey’s song in English version not in Bulgarian version. She is so braved. She just goes for it. She does not care other people’s thought.

The judges themselves find hard to comprehend what Valentina try to deliver at first sight but then, they try to understand the songs that Valentina sang. They laugh quite loud but Valentina just ignores them. She really wants to be a singer. She impressed me when she chooses to sing an English song even though her English was not really good. But, with her passion in singing she tried to sing that song as good as she can do. Her spirit was superb. Despite people could not understand her pronunciation she still precedes with her singing.

At least she tried sing in English version not in Bulgarian version. That is her effort in conquering the song. She tries to imitate Mariah Carey’s pronunciation. Of course, it is a bit hard for not English native to pronounce well unless he or she went for some language course or attends language classes. I myself sometimes find hard to pronounce certain word. Valentine Hassan shows her effort in learning language using her own ability. Even though, she does not have higher educational achievement, she never gives up and fights to be in Bulgarian Idol’s list.

For some people who listen to it for the first time, they will laugh loudly because of her pronunciation. Valentine just like brings up new phenomena in Bulgaria. It is proved when she made another performance in that competition; she has many fans that support her. There are also some of them that imitate her style in singing. Valentina just like become an idol for them. Valentine might not very good in English because of her family background or educational background but she is good in entertaining people. She got that talent that other people might not have. A less educational background is not an obstacle in achieving dreams.

In future plans, she might taking English class to improve her English and people around also will be inspired to learn or improved English by taking English class. Valentina one day could be a successful singer if she continuously working hard and never give up and I’m sure people around her will give her full support. Soon, there might somebody will try to do the same thing like she did and perhaps one day she might produce an English album.

Valentine Hassan is a good example for some people who feel awkward or afraid in learning English. We can learn English in many ways for instance; we can learn English by singing, watching movies or other ways that we feel comfortable with, not just only attending English classes for some time. Some people they are fluent in English because of frequently singing English songs. It is true that we can not conquer the language in a short time, we need more time and perhaps we need years to be fluent in English. It does not matters what language is, but time is important in earning the language. Besides, we have to be strong and can not easily give up in learning language and also give a full commitment in the learning process.

Therefore, do not be afraid in learning language specifically English language because there are many alternatives ways that can help us and do not afraid in making mistakes because there are no body is perfect and mistakes make us become more matured and prepared. Besides, English language is demanding nowadays, so we can not be left behind. So, chayok..chayok!

METHODS APPROACHES OF TRANSLATION

TRANSLATION

Translation is the changing of a language to convey the message or intention of the “speaker” or original product of message that sent in an “oral” and visual form. Translation can be divided into two which are translation in semantic (meaning) and translation in communicative (oral). Translation is semantic express text or express thought, ideas, opinons and feelings in the form of essay, articles, lyrics, poems or movies. Semantic brings informal meaning because it's express something. Communicative on the other hand, is an infomative and vocative texts where it's requires higher knowledge and it brings formal meaning. Formal and informal is the characteristic that diffrentiate semantic and communicative.

There are many methods in translation which are borrowing translation, transference translation, calque translation, oblique translation, transposition translation, modulation translation, equivalence translation, adaptation translation and literal translation.

LITERAL TRANSLATION

Literal translation is a translation that follows closely the form of source language. It is a translation of text from one language to another “word-for-word”, rather than giving the sense of the original. It is also known as word-for-word translation or direct translation. According to some reference, literal translation is a word-for-word translation which often makes no sense when read. It is because the language is translated by totally following the original words without any changes. The literal translation is not really care about the grammatical functions. The words are translated according the original word order. That is the reason why some of the translation makes no sense when read.

For example, Tarmizi membasuh kereta baru that is the source language. The sentence will be translated Tarmizi washed car new that is the target language. the sentences are translated word by word.

Many translators suggest that literal translation is the safest way because the words are translated one by one. One purpose introducing literal translation is to provide amplified translation so that readers can understand the text. Literal translations also function as translating a long, precisely warded legal definition of an invention patent.

In conclusion, literal translation is one of the methods approaches of translation that follows closely the form of source language. It is a translation of word by word.

TALES FROM THE MOBILE ZONE

Tales from the Mobile Zone

What do managers, Cendols-sellers, businessman, fishmongers, remise; college students and housewives have in common? The mobile phone of course.

Gone were the days when hand phone totters used to get envious looks from the have-nots. In today’s high-tech, high-speed world, a hand phone is a necessity to keep in touch, to get ahead or to get that juicy gossip across.

“So what if you got hand phone, I also got what.” Any Muthu, Alior Ah Chong can snigger.

Surely we have, at one time or another, come across a cartoon strip that showed a hand phone ringing and everybody whipping at their hand phone from their handbag, briefcase, pocket, haversack or what ever.

Most people disregard the “No Hand phone” signs put up at the entrance except at the hospitals where it could interfere with life saving equipment. Other than that, it’s really no surprise when in the midst of a lecture, while queuing up at the bank or during that exciting car-chase scene at the movies, a “beep-beep” sound loud and clear, followed by an even louder grumpy noise “hallo…”

IDENTIFYING PART OF SPEECH

IDENTIFYING PART OF SPEECH
You’re beautiful, that’s for sure
You’ll never ever fade
You’re lovely but it’s not for sure
That I won’t ever change
Though my love is true

I’m like a bird, I’ll only fly away
I don’t know where my soul is,
I don’t know where my home is
(And baby all I need for you to know is)
I’m like a bird, I’ll only fly away
I don’t know where my soul is,
I don’t know where my home is
All I need for you to know is
Your faith in brings me to tears
Even after all these years
And it pains me so much to tell
That you don’t know me that well
And though my love is rare
Though my love is true

It’s not that I wanna say goodbye
It’s just that every time you try
To tell that you love me
Each and every single day I know
I’m going to have eventually give you away
And though my love is rare
And though my love is true
Hey I’m just scared
That we my fall through

HANYA KAU YANG MAMPU BY AIZAT

Ku cuba redakan relung hati

Bayangmu yang berlalu pergi

Terlukis di dalam kenangan

Bebas bermain di hatiku

Cerita tentang masa lalu

Cerita tentang kau dan aku

Kini tinggal hanya kenangan

Kau abadi di dalam hatiku

Harusnya takkan ku biarkan engkau pergi

Membuat ku terpuruk rasa ingin mati

Derita yang mendera kapan akan berakhir

Hanya engkau yang mampu taklukkan hatiku

Cerita tentang masa lalu

Cerita tentang kau dan aku

Kini tinggal hanya kenangan

Kau abadi di dalam hatiku

Harusnya takkan ku biarkan kau pergi

Membuat ku terpuruk rasa ingin mati

Derita yang mendera kapan akan berakhir

Hanya engkau yang mampu taklukkan hatiku

Aku cinta oohh

Aku cinta oooo

Aku cinta oohh

Aku cinta oooo

Harusnya takkan ku biarkan engkau pergi

Membuat ku terpuruk rasa ingin mati

SOLEDAD BY WESTLIFE

Jika kau dapat melihat air mata dalam dunia yang kau tinggalkan
Jika kau dapat menenangkan hatiku sekali lagi
Bila mataku tertutup
Ada riak di wajahmu
Dan sekali lagi aku hadir aku sedar
Kau tiada gantinya

Soledad
Tersimpan dikala kesunyian
Sejak hari kau pergi
Mengapa kau tinggalkan ku
Soledad
Dalam hatiku kaulah satu-satunya
Dan iingatanku padamu takkan luput
Mengapa kau tinggalkan ku
Soledad

Bersiar di bawah jalan-jalan itu
Nothingville
Di mana cinta kita muda dan bebas
Tak percaya apakah hanya satu tempat kosong
Ia telah terjadi
Ku serahkan hidupku
Jika ia kembali kekal sseperti dulu
Kerana aku tak dapat sembunyikan suara hati
Memanggil-manggil namamu

Soledad
Tersimoan dikala kesunyian
Sejak hari kau pergi
Mengapa kau tinggalkan ku
Soledad
Dalam hatiku kaulah satu-satunya
Dan iingatanku padamu takkan luput
Mengapa kau tinggalkan ku
Soledad

Masa tidak akan sekali mengubah pengakuanmu
Jika ditakdirkan bersama cinta akan menyatukan kita
Jika kau dapat melihat

Soledad
Tersimoan dikala kesunyian
Sejak hari kau pergi
Mengapa kau tinggalkan ku
Soledad
Dalam hatiku kaulah satu-satunya
Dan iingatanku padamu takkan luput
Mengapa kau tinggalkan ku

SOLEDAD BY WESTLIFE

SOLEDAD

If only you could see the tears in the world you left behind

If only you could heal my heart just one more time

Even when I close my eyes

There's an image of your face

And once again I come I'll realise

You're a loss I can't replace

Soledad

It's a keeping for the lonely

Since the day that you were gone

Why did you leave me

Soledad

In my heart you were the only

And your memory live on

Why did you leave me

Soledad

Walking down the streets

of Nothingville

Where our love was young and free

Can't believe just what an empty place

It has come to be

I would give my life away

If it could only be the

same

Cause I can't still the voice inside of me

That is calling out your name

Soledad

It's a keeping for the lonely

Since the day that you were gone

Why did you leave me

Soledad

In my heart you were the only

And your memory live on

Why did you leave me

Soledad

Time will never change the things you told me

After all we're meant to be love will bring us back to you and me

If only you could see

Soledad

It's a keeping for the lonely

Since the day that you were gone

Why did you leave me

Soledad

In my heart you were the only

And your memory live on

Why did you leave me
